NOTES:
We teach astanga yoga in a traditional method known as ‘Mysore’,
which originated in Mysore, South India for the practice of ashtanga yoga.
Students practice at their own pace with advice and sometimes adjustments given by the teacher. Practice length can vary from between 40 minutes to an hour and 40 minutes. Classes run every morning from Monday to Friday apart from moon days Once and sometimes twice a month we offer a Sanskrit counted led astanga class.

NOTAS:
Enseñamos Ashtanga Yoga en el método tradicional conocido como ‘Mysore’, que se originó en Mysore, en el sur de la India, para la práctica de Ashtanga Yoga.
Los estudiantes practican a su propio ritmo, con indicaciones y, en ocasiones, ajustes ofrecidos por el maestro. La duración de la práctica puede variar entre 40 minutos y 1 hora con 40 minutos. Las clases se realizan todas las mañanas de lunes a viernes, excepto en días de luna Una o a veces dos veces al mes ofrecemos una clase guiada de Ashtanga con conteo en sánscrito.

PRACTICE GUIDELINES–  Please don’t be late for class. Check with your teacher for the latest arrival time or look on the entrance desk. Please be respectful of shala closing time.–  We want to assure anyone who comes to our shala that they are free to say no to adjustments at any time, we will respect your wishes. No reasons needed– In keeping with tradition, Primary series only is practiced on Fridays–  Please shower/bathe before coming to class and wear clean yoga clothes–  Please wash both your cotton yoga mat and your sticky yoga mat on a regular basis!–  Please turn your phone off or to silent and try not to be tempted to look at it during your practice–  Try and be respectful of other students and the space they are practicing–  If you are looking for a new posture, we know. Don’t ask. It will be given when we feel you are ready. It’s not just about the asana–  Please inform the teacher of any injuries, illnesses or operations and please let the teacher know if you’re pregnant–  The practice is taught in a traditional style so please try to avoid modification/use of props etc. or deviating from the sequence unless previously agreed–  Do not eat a meal for 2-3 hours before attending class–  Try not to eat or drink for 20-40 minutes after class–  It is nice to be sociable with fellow yogis but please be respectful of those practicing– keep chat quiet

LINEAMIENOS PARA LA PRACTICA– Por favor llega a tiempo a clase. Consulta con tu maestro la hora límite de llegada o revisa en el escritorio de entrada. Por favor respeta la hora de cierre de la shala.– Queremos asegurar a cualquiera que venga a nuestra shala que es libre de decir no a los ajustes en cualquier momento; respetaremos tu decisión. No es necesario dar explicaciones.– Siguiendo la tradición, los viernes se practica únicamente la Serie Primaria.– Por favor dúchate o báñate antes de venir a clase y usa ropa de yoga limpia.– Por favor lava tanto tu tapete de algodón como tu tapete de yoga antideslizante con regularidad.– Por favor apaga tu teléfono o ponlo en silencio y trata de no sentir la tentación de mirarlo durante tu práctica.– Procura ser respetuoso con los demás estudiantes y con el espacio en el que están practicando.– Si estás esperando una nueva postura, lo sabemos. No la pidas. Se dará cuando sintamos que estás listo. No se trata solo del asana.– Por favor informa al maestro de cualquier lesión, enfermedad u operación, y también hazle saber si estás embarazada.– La práctica se enseña en un estilo tradicional, por lo que te pedimos evitar modificaciones, uso de apoyos (props), etc., o desviarte de la secuencia, a menos que se haya acordado previamente.– No comas durante 2–3 horas antes de asistir a la clase.– Procura no comer ni beber durante 20–40 minutos después de la clase.– Es agradable socializar con otros yoguis, pero por favor sé respetuoso con quienes están practicando.– Mantén las conversaciones en voz baja.

WHAT IS A MYSORE PROGRAM?


EL estilo Mysore es el método tradicional de enseñanza del Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga es un espacio de introsepcción... Es una práctica donde, con el apoyo de un guía y de la comunidad cada persona avanza a su propio ritmo, cultivando una relación íntima con la respiración y el movimiento.**Poco a poco, esta experiencia individual se entrelaza con la energía del grupo, creando una resonancia compartida que transforma la práctica en algo vivo y orgánico…El Ashtanga vinyasa yoga es un sistema de meditación en movimiento...Promueve la movilidad, claridad mental, sensación de bienestar, nos lleva a un estado de autocontemplación y nos mantiene fuertes.Un programa MYSORE es parte del sistema traditional ASTHANGA VINYASA YOGA CONl, la clase guiada o led class y el programa Mysore son parte del mismo sistema.
Cualquier persona pueda comenzar desde donde está. No es necesario dominar la práctica, ni haber memorizado secuencias antes de comenzar o saber nada de Nada.
Se aprende paso a paso, bajo guía. La enseñanza se adaptan a cada persona
En un programa Mysore se tienen un compromiso conjunto con el profesor con el seguimiento regular del trabajo // con en fin de lograr progreso.
Durante este proceso se trabaja tanto en prevención como si es el caso en recuperación de lesiones, falta de movilidad, falta de flexibilidad o falta de fuerza
Ademas también como posible apoyo en la experiencia emocional del proceso de la práctica…
En un programa llevamos un seguimiento organizado de la práctica y de su progreso.
La forma tradicional de aprender Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga es mediante el sistema Mysore y la clase guiada como apoyo.
A diferencia de lo que se cree de la practica Mysore de que es fuerte tradicionalmente es un aprendizaje amable y a largo plazo para construirlo con solidez

ABOUT ASHTANGA YOGAYoga is a philosophy of life, which also has the potential to create a vibrantly healthy body and mind. Practised in its correct sequential order, astanga (pronounced ‘ash – tan – ga’) yoga gradually leads the practitioner to rediscover his or her fullest potential on all levels of human consciousness: physical, psychological and spiritual.Through this practice of correct breathing (ujjayi pranayama), postures (asanas), and gazing point (dristi), we gain control of the senses and a deep awareness of ourselves. By maintaining this discipline with regularity and devotion one acquires steadiness of body and mind.The word astanga comes from the philosophical system behind yoga based on an eight faceted approach to reaching a state of yoga. It literally means ‘eight limbs’ and these are described by Patanjali as: Yama (abstinences), Niyama (observances), Asana (postures), Pranayama (breath control), Pratyahara (sense withdrawal), Dharana (concentration), Dhyana (meditation), and Samadhi (contemplation). These branches support each other. Asana practice must be established for proper practice of pranayama, and is a key to the development of the yamas and niyamas. Once these four externally oriented limbs are firmly rooted, the last four internally oriented limbs will spontaneously evolve over time.‘Vinyasa’ means breath synchronised movement. The breath is the heart of this discipline, and links asana to asana in a precise order. By synchronising movement with breathing, and by practising mula and uddiyana bandhas (locks), an intense internal heat is produced. This heat purifies muscles and organs, expelling unwanted toxins as well as releasing beneficial hormones and minerals, which can nourish the body when the sweat is massaged back into the skin. The breath regulates the vinyasa and ensures efficient circulation of blood. The result is a light, strong body.There are three groups of sequences in the astanga system. The Primary Series (Yoga Chikitsa) detoxifies and aligns the body. The Intermediate Series (Nadi Shodhana) purifies the nervous system by opening and clearing the energy channels. The Advanced Series A, B, C and D (Sthira Bhaga) integrate the strength and grace of the practice, requiring higher levels of flexibility and humility.Each level is to be fully developed before proceeding to the next, and the sequential order of asanas is to be meticulously followed. Each posture is a preparation for the next, developing the strength and balance required to move further.

Breath
The continuity of deep, even breathing cannot be over-emphasised in the astanga yoga system. When breath feeds action, and action feeds posture, each movement becomes gentle, precise, and perfectly steady.
Breathing is our most fundamental and vital act and holds a divine essence: exhalation a movement towards God, and inhalation an inspiration from God. Our last action in life is to exhale, which, in essence, is the final and total surrender to God.Practice
It is said that where there is no effort there is no benefit. Strength, stamina and sweat are unique aspects of this traditional yoga, seemingly contrary to Western perceptions of yoga. This demanding practice requires considerable effort and taps into and circulates a vital energy throughout the body, strengthening and purifying the nervous system. The mind then becomes lucid, clear and precise and  ‘Wherever you look you will see God’. Only through practice will we realise the truth of what our guru often says:‘Everything is God’.

Students are taught individually within a group environment and practise at their own pace with one-to-one advice and sometimes adjustments given by the teacher.
